Manufactured Homeowners Are Satisfied Homeowners!
According to a study by the Foremost Insurance Company, 88 percent of manufactured homeowners report satisfaction with their housing choice. Likewise, a most recent Owens Corning study, conducted by National Family Opinion, found that 93 percent of manufactured home owners are satisfied with their housing choice.

  • In 2010, New Mexico ranked 18th in the nation for total manufactured homes sold.
  • The average age of the head of the household residing in manufactured housing is 49.9 years old.
  • 57% of the household heads residing in manufactured housing are employed full time, 7% part time, and 23% are retired.
  • Depending on the region of the country, construction cost per square foot for a new manufactured home averages 10 to 35 percent less than costs for a comparable site-built home.
            o   The average cost of a new site-built home purchased in 2009 was $203,182 and the average square footage was 2,422 sq. ft.
                This means that the average cost per square foot was $83.89.
            o   The average cost of a new manufactured home purchased in 2009 was $63,100 and the average square footage was 1,530 sq. ft.   
                This means that the average cost per square foot was $41.24.        
   
  • In 2009, 23% of new manufactured homes placed for residential use were located in a community, while 77% were located on private property.
  • Over 300 homes to date have received the Sustainable Building Tax Credit, totaling over $1,260,000 in tax credits to date.
